Kaylee Hottle, an 18-year-old actor who gained fame for her portrayal of Jia in the films Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, has tragically died following a car accident in Maryland. The Texas School for the Deaf, where she was a student, confirmed her passing and extended heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, classmates, and all who knew her.

The accident took place in Frederick, Maryland, early Tuesday morning. According to local authorities, the incident involved a 1995 Honda Accord that veered off the road and collided with a culvert. Investigators have indicated that excessive speed was likely a contributing factor to the crash.

Hottle, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to a nearby trauma center but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old, survived the crash with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Another passenger in the vehicle declined medical treatment.

Kaylee Hottle was celebrated for her role as Jia, a deaf orphan who shares a special connection with Kong in the MonsterVerse films. Her performance was widely praised for its authenticity and for bringing much-needed representation of the deaf community to mainstream cinema.
