Robotaxis, 6G, and Supercomputers: Nvidia’s $5T Future

Published on

Nvidia’s historic $5 trillion valuation is not just built on its current AI chip dominance; it’s built on a future strategy that embeds its technology into every next-generation industry. The company, which hit $5.05 trillion on Wednesday, has unleashed a string of deals pointing to its long-term ambitions.
The company recently announced a partnership with Uber to power robotaxis, tackling the autonomous driving market. It is also looking beyond 5G, investing $1 billion in Nokia to co-develop 6G technology. Furthermore, it’s becoming a cornerstone of national infrastructure, working with the US Department of Energy to build seven new AI supercomputers.
These future bets are layered on top of its booming core business. CEO Jensen Huang confirmed a $500 billion order backlog for its AI chips, the demand for which pushed Nvidia’s value from $4T to $5T in just three months.
This vision has strong political support. President Donald Trump, a shareholder, has praised the company and is even pushing to open the Chinese market for its chips.
This rapid expansion, hailed as the next iPhone-level shift, has its skeptics. The IMF and Bank of England have warned of an “AI bubble.” Critics point to the high failure rate of corporate AI pilots and the “circular” $100 billion deal with OpenAI as signs that the market’s expectations may be outpacing reality.
